[Android] Live Mario Wallpaper on Android 2.1 & above

30 06 2010

A must have (but not necessary turned on all the time) for those Android phone owners who spend their childhood playing Mario. Really cool wallpaper with the ability to have the AI controller Mario run through different stages of the game. BUT all at the expense of the processor and battery life. Nostalgic value = infinity. That’s my take.

Apple sells 1.7 million iPhone 4 through Saturday, June 26 2010

29 06 2010

Apple’s previous record of 1 million iPhone 3GS over a weekend was phenomenal, but iPhone 4 has up the ante with 1.7 million units sold. But with the antenna/reception issue looming over Apple, it is not good news. Seriously, how could Apple have come up with a product with such incredible flaw? I believe Steve Job is losing his touch or AT&T has provided over the top coverage around the Apple campus. That’s my take.

[gadg3t] HTC Wildfire

29 06 2010

HTC Wildfire looks impressive from the outside, but there is a lot of question on what is in the inside because it has similar components are the HTC Tatoo, such as: 528MHz Qualcomm processor, and the 3.2 inch screen is only a mere 320×240. Although compare to the HTC Tatoo, HTC Wildfire has more RAM (384MB) & a 5 megapixel camera, the question is whether the aging processor keep Sense UI well oiled, and the support of all the whistle & bell in the latest and greatest Android OS.

Engadget has done review, so head on over there to read all about the HTC Wildfire.

[toys] Who Tall Are You?

24 06 2010

Are you mini like Kylie?  Or a mountain like Hulk Hogan?  Measuring your height with numbers is SO last decade – we all gauge our heights by celebrity now, darling.  This tongue-in-cheek mirror lists 120 celebrities by height.  Watch your friends loiter in front of it, trying to be more of a James Dean than a Ben Stiller …

[gadg3t] Yellow Spots on iPhone 4′s Retina Display

24 06 2010

Something to look out for when you first get your iPhone 4. Does this mean Apple’s QA is dropping? Or people are just nick picking? Anyhow, if you spot the spot, make sure you make a complain and try to get a replacement. After all, Apple is obligated to provide the best! That’s my take.

[tools] Improve your Window’s Performance by Removing Unnecessary Software During Startup

23 06 2010

Once in a while you will find a software, and after just looking at the introduction animation clip, you will go “I want to invest in that company”. And this is even more so for Soluto after I have tried it on my netbook.

The concept is as simple as the days when I use Windows primary, where you run msconfig on the command prompt to manually select what application should Windows startup and not (most of the time it is a guessing game).

What Soluto is providing is a simplification of the process where the application monitors the startup of your computer, then break down all the application to 3 categories which are “Required”, “No Brainer” and “Potentially Removable”. From there on, you will be able to see the break down of how long each application sucks up during your Windows startup, and can choose to remove the application, delay it, or stay as status quo. The cool part about Soluto is that it also collects data on what other users do to certain application, and shows it to you to ease your decision process.

From my trial with Soluto, I have improve my NetBook’s startup time by 15%, and it now runs better as well!

Cool tool, which i would say is a must for all Windows users. And personally, this should come from Microsoft in the first place. But one giant’s failure could result in a new giant. That’s my take.
