For those who is not familiar with the Asus’ Eee Keyboard, it is NOT just another high tech aluminum keyboard. It is a keyboard with netbook ‘like’ processor & specifications build into it as well as a cool touch screen (which reminds you of an iPhone) located at the num pad.
The Eee Keyboard is running an Intel Atom N270 CPU and the 945GSE/ICH7-M chipset. This processor is backed by 1GB DDR2 and 16GB or 32GB of flash storage. There is also a Broadcom AV-VD905 video decoder, Gigabit Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n WiFi, an HDMI output, a VGA connector and a battery pack lasting four hours on a charge. There are also three USB 2.0 ports and an external WiFi/UWB antenna, which will allow 720p video to be played wirelessly on a TV within five meters of ASUS’ device.
Basically the Asus Eee Keyboard is designed to be used wireless-ly, thus it also has an Ultra Wide Band transmitter and receiver so that you can eliminate the cable to the monitor. Cool! This is a much welcome space saver, and you don’t need to have ultra thick monitors.
This new toy is now available for pre-order in the US, and some folks have already gotten their new toy as shown in the unboxing in the YouTube clip below:
And they have the walkthrough too 😀
I think it’s a good device to un-clutter your desk or have a PC in your living room. And it’s cool too! That’s my take.
